Pdf Summary
This study examined the prevalence of musculoskeletal and neurological pain symptoms among hospitalized COVID-19 patients. The researchers included 182 patients with a mean age of 48.86 years. They found that 61.54% of the patients reported experiencing pain symptoms. The most common symptoms reported were generalized myalgia (32.96%), headache (27.47%), and low back pain (22.53%). Neuropathic pain was present in 7.69% of the participants. Logistic regression analysis showed that pain symptoms were associated with COVID-19 severity, male sex, higher body mass index, and a history of addiction. The study concluded that pain symptoms are a common manifestation of COVID-19 and that further investigation is needed to better understand the factors associated with pain symptoms and guide healthcare workers and policymakers in managing COVID-19 patients.
