This study aimed to investigate the effects of core stabilization exercises on various factors in children with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). A total of 30 patients were randomly divided into a training group and a control group. The training group received core stabilization exercises in addition to traditional scoliosis exercises for 8 weeks, while the control group only received traditional scoliosis exercises. Measurements were taken at the beginning and end of the study to assess pulmonary function, respiratory muscle strength, peripheral muscle strength, walking capacity, and perceived appearance. <br /><br />The results showed that the training group had significant improvements in maximal inspiratory pressure, maximal expiratory pressure, and Walter Reed Visual Assessment Scale score compared to the control group. However, there were no significant differences between the groups in terms of pulmonary function, peripheral muscle strength, and walking capacity. <br /><br />The findings suggest that core stabilization exercises, when added to traditional scoliosis exercises, can improve respiratory muscle strength and perceived appearance in children with AIS. These exercises may be beneficial for patients with scoliosis, but further research is needed to determine their long-term effects and optimal duration of treatment.
